Why are we asking these questions?
When a personal loan or vehicle finance is introduced by a garage, dealer or broker, that business may receive commission from the lender.
Commission itself is not necessarily unfair. The important questions are whether it was properly disclosed, whether it affected the agreement you were offered and whether you had enough information to make an informed decision.
The UK compensation scheme does not automatically apply in Jersey. However, some local agreements may still be worth reviewing and complaints may fall within the remit of the Channel Islands Financial Ombudsman.
